Hard Landscaping for recreational park: functional, safe and attractive.

Aesthetics was important to the client. The structures would be in a public area and highly visible to the local population. A natural stone-like finish was preferable for the retaining walls. These also needed to be consistent with each other in appearance and blend effortlessly with the entire park system.

Tensar Solution

Tensar met the client’s requirements using the TensarTech® TW1 ME wall system which was adopted for the landscape design of the recreational park to incoporate terracing and tree pits. Single and tiered reinforced soil structures were designed to accommodate the varying wall heights and terracing, using structural fill material that would be obtained from within the site, thereby avoiding the need to import structural fill. Also, the TensarTech TW1 ME wall system was able to accomodate access ramps and provide grade separation from the adjacent parking lot and stairways within the park. In addition to this, the rough grey textured block facing of the wall system met the client’s requirement for an attractive stone-like appearance.
